Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
This is my "pre-Thanksgiving" post...or the more important holiday..."Opening Gun Deer Season" post! Yes, it's that time of year again...where crazy people dress up in blaze orange and run around the woods after the mystical whitetail deer. Unfortunately, I'm unable to take part, based on my current situation and location. For all you hunters out there, I want you to know that my heart's with you in your deer stands on opener...nursing your hangovers with coffee, while you freeze your tails off! Sounds crazy, but I SO WISH I WAS HOME FOR THAT!
For those that are not deer hunters or deer hunter widows (women who loose their husband for a week during deer season)...it was another week up in Iraq. I got to go to the west side of Iraq where most of the Marines are. It was different over there. I'm not sure if it was knowing that the area has a lot of hostilities or what, but I felt the tension while over there. We'll be getting back safely though. I haven't been back at the home base recently, so I haven't had time to upload the pics in shutterfly. When I do, I'll be sure to get the most recent pics out to you all!

i don't really get the whole deer hunting thing?? are girls allowed to even go, or are they just that much smarter to not want to sit in a tree for hours and freeze our ass off! i'll go with the smarter thing:) hope all is well...be safe!

they don't have deer in the desert? seems like you could find a dune to use as a stand and pick one off as it drinks from the oasis.

Good to hear from you bud. Yeah Todd and Bill are going to the woods actually this weekend for Bow hunting. Next weekend they black powder so they are excited. Be Safe.

well, I do get the whole deer hunting thing, and although I am not a hunter myself, I can say to those naysayers out there (the women) that it has a lot to do with the time you spend together with your closest friends and relatives.....and yes, the deer count too, but only for bragging rights. anyway, how are you Jake? This is Dave by the way. The weather is getting seriously cold here, I dont have to go hunting to freeze my ass off, all i have to do is walk to class! Things here have been good, school is moving along, so, nothing new from Milwaukee, other than Leinenkugels came out with a new beer that is pretty tasty, i think it is something similar to a good lager, but I have yet to try it...I hope you are well, and that you get back safe, we still have to hit the links by the way, but i am sure your sandgame has gotten better! ha ha, just kidding, but we will definatly have to go when you get home. take it easy and take care , and I will talk to you soon. see ya

Think of you often. Sounds like all is going well. Matt got a couple of Doe's today and is waiting for the big BUCK yet. He has been kind of dry the last couple of years. Don't know a whole lot. Think of you and your family often.

During this holiday, I will be looking forward to our future Thanksgivings together. (Even if the women only get to see the men for a couple of hours- I think I am including Sefton in that :() I miss our family time and can't wait to have you home. Letters are on the way with life's little details.

Hello Jake,
Hope all is well with you. We have been thinking about you often. Justin shot a "fork buck" with his bow but neither of the guys have had success with gun season yet. Bob is still trying, Justin has basketball games to take care of and is unable to hunt anymore this season. Erin is looking forward to having her first semester of college under her belt, even thou she is having a lot of fun. You take care now.
